My Life’s Journey of Reinvention: Embracing New Chapters at Every Age!

Life surely isn’t a straight line-it’s more of a winding road with detours, U-turns and unexpected pit stops along the way, not to mention potholes! I’ve certainly learned this truth over and over in my own journey. From Broadway to owning a dance studio, from the rush of public recognition to the quiet, yet equally powerful moments of personal growth-sometimes very tough. Every chapter of my life has brought new lessons and opportunities for me.

But I wasn’t always so confident in embracing change. There was a time I clung to the familiar and feared the unknown. Yet, it’s the unknown that’s led me to this exciting new chapter, and I’m here to share that journey with you.

The Early Years: Finding My Path to The Top

Growing up, I knew what I wanted to be. I had a fierce sense of determination to make something of myself. Whether it was performing on stage, in shows, pageants, TV, I was always striving. The idea of my dream coming true-or something bigger, was always at the back of my mind.

What I didn’t realize then was every experience, every twist in the road, pothole, and every setback would be a setup for something bigger. I just had to be patient. That was hard for me, because I wanted success immediately. But life had a way of “guiding” me to unexpected places-and I was learning to trust it.

Gradual Shifts Can Lead to Big Ones: My way to Broadway

As life would have it, I eventually made my way to the bright lights of Broadway. Even the glamour of show business and performing on stage, didn’t protect me from inevitable changes that life threw my way, especially living in the Big Apple in my early 20’s. However, I don’t regret anything.

When the last curtain fell and those bright lights blinded me with only the sound of audience cheers, I took my last bow. I then had a choice: Stay in the past clinging to what I knew best or reinvent myself for the future. As someone who has faced the highs and lows of show biz-performing, modeling, auditioning, and traveling, I chose to move back home and give back to aspiring dancers and teach what I’ve learned.

Comfort is the enemy of growth. I don’t like change. By pushing myself to evolve and moving on with my next venture was scary, but exciting. And that’s when my dance studio was born! 30 wonderful years of owning a very successful dance studio. I am now retired and not done yet! On to my next exciting and fun journey!

The Lessons: Learning to Trust the Process

Through all the trials, tribulations, challenges and triumphs, I’ve come to realize:

It’s never too late for change. Whether you’re in your 20’s, 50’s, or 70’s and beyond, life is always offering new chapters if you’re open to them.

Failure isn’t permanent, even in those moments of disappointment. It’s just another part of the process.

Growth is a journey, not a destination. I would tell this to my younger self!! Never be afraid to change direction if it calls you.
